Thoughts on Buying Sculpture

Well... it caught your attention. There is something about it that draws you to it. Maybe it's something about the way it's constructed or, maybe it's just cool! If you like it and you know you would like to see it often, then buy it! That is my advice. Consider it nourishment for your soul, a touchstone for your being.

I know some would think first, "We need to consider where to place it." I wouldn't consider it. While that may apply to something you purchase to cover a bare spot on a wall or an additional sofa, it should not apply to sculpture. Sculpture is the statement and it suffices that you want it.

Having said this, I do think it is important to inform yourself. One of my first thoughts would be, "Is it suitable for exterior, interior also, or interior only?" Further, I would consider its construction; does it defy too many laws of nature? You would think that if the sculpture made it to the show (or gallery) then that is proof enough, but ultimately be as sure as you can. It is best when you can talk directly with the sculptor about any concerns.

Yes I know it will impress neighbors and friends, and they may think there is a deeper side to you, but right now you are comfortable with it, and the sculpture is touching a chord. So... what is stopping you?

OK then, you are about to buy it, and either you can load it up and take it home yourself, or it needs to be delivered (or shipped), then don't forget to find out what that incurs and the cost.

I hope this information helps, enjoy the arts and help a good cause when you are at Sculpture Challenge. Thank you for your time,
